Forest Marathon

The Forest Marathon explores the new forest being planted in south warwickshire. Started by the late publishing magnate Felix Dennis “Heart of England Forest” is a registered charity now funded by his near £500m estate. Over 3000 acres and 1.5 million trees are already in the ground, with patience and support who knows his dream of a 30,000 acre forest to rival the ancient “Forest of Arden” may be possible. The event will enable the planting of 2 native broadleaf trees in the new forest for every entrant and volunteer. This will be in a location that you will pass en route so each year you can see your trees progress and new ones planted. The main event roughly follows the “Arden Way” is marathon length with a shorter 17 mile route. Fully supported with 5 refreshment stops (watch out for the bacon butty at checkpoint 2 and homemade cakes at CP 5) showers, a meal and certificate at the finish. Be part of this great project and enjoy the beautiful warwickshire countryside with its ancient towns and picturesque villages.
