Description
Though the Road to the Isles half marathon is a challenging road race, it is the scenery that will really take your breath away on this route. Every year, runners return to enjoy the beauty of the west coast and the friendly atmosphere at the finish line. The half marathon starts at Beasdale Station and follows the old Road to the Isles through Arisaig, Traigh – where the 10k will join in – and Morar into Mallaig, where the race finishes at Mallaig & District Swimming Pool. The undulating route provides an enjoyable challenge for all abilities and sights such as the Silver Sands of Morar will boost your morale all the way to the finish line. Water stations will be provided at three locations throughout the race. Since this race is a fundraising event for the community swimming pool, the entry fee of £25 includes a free swim and sauna/spa. Homemade refreshments will be provided at the finish line, and all participants will receive a t-shirt. Race marshals will be in place to direct participants at all junctions. At least one qualified first aider will be available throughout the race. Your own transport and support crew are required for all of the above races. Fluorescent vests, sunscreen, and water are essential. The Road to the Isles Half Marathon is a fundraiser organised by and for Mallaig Pool & Leisure.
