The race is on a traffic-free pavement loop under trees in around the perimeter of a large park in north Bristol. There is a free cark park at the start at Park Avenue, accessible from Fishponds Road via Oakdene Avenue. There are public toilets (in the bowling club) 100m away. There are limited changing facilities so come ready to run. Water and electrolyte drinks are provided at the start/finish. The race is run on a 1-mile loop so that you also get to hear your 1-mile split time called out as you pass. All finishing times are recorded and medals are given in all age categories (49 and under – first 7 men and women, 50-59 – first 3 men and women, 60-69 – first 2 men and women, and 70+ first man and women. The race usually attracts a small number of competitors with a wide range of abilities – runners of all standards are welcome and this is the ideal race for a first-timer (as well as being a good opportunity for experienced runners to race as part of their speed work training). Prizes for Series winners. Also new for 2016 is 1 mile Junior Races (FREE entry) prior to Senior Races. Medals awarded to first 3 Girls and first 3 Boys. We finish the Series with the 3 x 1 mile relay – if you don’t have any likely team mates then come to the earlier races in the season and we’ll try and put any individual runners into teams.
