What kind challenge will you be completing, and for who?

You probably already know which charity you want to support, so next you must decide what kind of challenge you want to undertake. Once this is decided, you’ll need to get the event set up well in advance.

Booking/arranging your challenge

You can’t expect too much in the way of support for your challenge until you’ve got it booked or arranged and have a date set. To make things easy, we have put together a series of short articles on how to set up a selection of popular charity challenge activities. Just click the links below to find out more about getting started with Marathons, Mountain climbs, skydiving, triathlons, mudruns and more…

Film Night

Book a room with a projector screen and grab some blankets and film snacks to turn your boardroom into a cinema! You could ask colleagues to vote on which film they’d most like to watch, then charge for entry and all-you-can-eat access to the snacks.

Spare Change Bucket

This idea will raise you money throughout the year, with minimal effort from you. Contact the charity you’re fundraising for and ask them for some branded, sealable collection buckets. Then place these in areas of your office that people walk past a lot, like the kitchen, reception and meeting rooms.

External funding

Funding is available to many organisations in the UK through lottery funding. The Big Lottery Fund is one such group who support hundreds of UK community and voluntary causes. Visit their website to find out more about eligibility.

These could take the form of a race, a guess the baby photo contest, a quiz night, a talent contest, a raffle or any of a hundred other fun ideas.

Bake sales

It may not be an original idea, but it sure is popular. Organise a cake morning and bring along delicious treats to sell to friends and family.

Car boot sales

A great opportunity for the whole group to have a good clear out, a car boot sale can help raise funds. If you have grounds, then why not use them to host sales for the local community, with the club keeping the stall fees.

Quiz Time

Hire out a room in your office (make sure it has a projector screen) and start thinking of quiz questions! Spice it up with a round on music, photos and even company knowledge to really test your colleagues. Ask for donations from everyone who enters.

Send all of your colleagues a link to GoRaise and ask them to start fundraising every time they shop online. It won’t cost you a penny, because all of the cost is covered by the retailer you’re shopping with.
