FAQ – Companies

Is there any cost to our company or to the cause?

Not a penny! Your team shop the way they usually would, and the retailer donates a percentage of their spend to your company’s chosen cause.

Why do the retailers make a donation?

Well, there’s a few reasons: It’s a way of thanking your employees for their custom. The retailer wants to do their bit to help good causes. It attracts customers to their online store.

Will our employees end up paying more for goods and services?

No. You and your employees shop online as you always would, and then the retailer makes a donation of a fixed amount or a percentage amount based on the overall spend. Neither you, your employees, or your chosen cause will pay a single penny extra. You can also make sure that the person responsible for purchasing supplies and equipment for your company has a GoRaise account, and then any orders you make as an organisation can add to your total raised. This is a great way to really notch up the money you are able to raise.

Sounds too good to be true – is there a catch?

Nope! Your employees spend online like they normally would, and the retailer donates a fixed amount, or a percentage of the money spent, to your chosen cause. It’s as simple as that. No catch. Sadly many great causes are unaware of the millions of pounds of retailer commission available for donation every year.

How much of the donation does GoRaise take?

Not a penny. The donation rate your supporters see is the exact amount you will receive. For clarity, we are a commercial organisation, and we receive an additional payment from the retailer entirely separate to the donation made to your cause.

Which causes can we support?

You can support any cause you wish, from local groups to huge international charities. Your favourite cause may already be registered, but if it isn’t just add it today and get raising! GoRaise helps charities, sports clubs, foundations, PTAs, community groups, churches, youth groups and many more causes to raise funds easily, all year round. What’s more, you can also fundraise as a company in support of a member of staff who might be taking on a challenge like a marathon or fun run.

Can my company support more than one cause?

Yes, you can indeed.  When you register your company on GoRaise you can add multiple causes to support during the sign up process.  We make it super easy to switch causes at any time though, so you can change your supported cause on a monthly basis (or more/less regularly) if you so wish, supporting a whole range of causes across the year.

How does the retailer know who to pay?

Each time you or your employees click out from GoRaise to a chosen retailer, we remember the cause your company has chosen to support. If a purchase is made a donation will be passed to us, and we will then pass the full amount onto your cause, and you’ll be able to see the total raised across your organisation on your account page any time you wish.

Can any employee register their company with GoRaise?

The short answer is yes, but you should probably let the boss know first, especially if you plan on using company purchases to fundraise, and we need a suitable company employee to manage the payment details for the company’s account.

Can anyone see the purchases made?

No, only the retailer will see any details of orders made by your employees or by your company.

How much money can a company raise?

There is no upper limit. The donation from the retailers is either a fixed amount or percentage amount per transaction. On average each employee will raise around £30-40 per year for your cause. Of course, all the small purchases quickly add up, so make sure your team download our donation reminder for their browser and never miss a chance to raise. If you also visit the GoRaise website before making company purchases then you can end up making enormous contributions to the company cause thanks to the volume and size of transactions made. For example, travel purchases are a great way of getting large donations for your chosen cause.

Who pays the cause?

We collect all the retailer donations raised by your employees and we pass on every single penny to your chosen cause. The amount you see raised on your account is exactly what your cause will receive with nothing at all taken away. For clarity, we are a commercial organisation, and we receive an additional payment from the retailer entirely separate to the donation made to your cause.

Do you have our favourite retailer?

Probably! There are over 3,000 retailers who are a part of GoRaise. You can see them all in the retailer list here.  If the retailer you want to shop with isn’t there, let us know and we can certainly try to get them on board.

How can I get our employees involved?

If you’re already registered with GoRaise, then you’ll be able to access our marketing tools section when you are logged in. This includes pre-made and customised emails, social media content, web copy and a personalised video to promote your cause.

What does ‘clicking out’ mean?

Clicking out is what we call it when you or your employees select a retailer from this list and head to their website from our website. You must click out from our site, or have the donation reminder installed, in order to collect payments for your cause when you buy online.
