Hello, my name is Kai Morphey and I am 15 years old and I am currently in year 11. In 2018, a group of pupils from different schools all across the U.K. are going to Kenya for a 4 week expedition and community project. During this 4 week project, there will be 4 key components;Community: this will be getting to know the local villages around Kenya. They will then start helping the community and animals with all of their needs. This could mean:-building desks and benches for school children who would otherwise be sat on the floor to learn -building classrooms to provide children with safe places to learn-digging elephant watering holes, helping the elephants to survive during the dry season -making ethical elephant to protect local crops. This reduces elephant poaching and increases crop production for the villagers to eat -rhino sanctuary maintenance work -goat de-worming -installing fresh water tanks at schools and villages. Only 30% of Kenya's population have access to fresh running water! Wildlife: these projects are aimed at increasing the value of wildlife and habitats by working with communities to develop alternatives to the over-exploitation of natural resources. This would mean getting stuck into: -digging watering holes -building anti-poaching rangers' huts-planting food trees for orangoutangs-vaccinating livestock -learning about sea life conservation-planning environmental education workshops for locals -making paper out of elephant dung Environment: this project tackles issues such as deforestation, pollution and over-harvesting. This project could include planting trees to developing alternative fuel resources for communities. Adventure: this means tackling a 4-5 day mountain trek through a stunning landscape traveling from open savannahs through equation in rainforests towards point Leanna on Mount Kenya- the second largest mountain in Africa. This would be an achievement like no other. I would love to be one of those pupils on this expedition. As I am currently In year 11, I need to start making choices in my career path and my future. And what's better than spending it in a beautiful country helping the people that need my help the very most?! This 4-week project is something that I feel strongly towards and feel as if it is something that I want to do. Not only do I think that it will be an amazing adventure, but it will be helping one of the poorest countries. This expedition would change the local people and the animals life for the good! The cost of the expedition is £3,980, but the grand total will be a little over £4000 after I pay for insurance, vaccinations and kit. I realise it seems a lot but it will be a one in a lifetime opportunity that could potentially extend a number of residents' life in the various communities that I could be helping. Not only will this leave me with lifetime memories, it will help me secure a place when it gets to the time when I have to decide about studying at a university. The ucas points that I will earn from doing over 150 hours work will equal a B as an 'as level'. I am going to try my hardest to fundraise as much of this total as possible, if not all. Along the way, I will hopefully be doing various fundraisers ranging from bake sales to sponsored events. I will be also contacting companies for sponsors. Even if you can only spare a pound or two. Please donate to help me reach the total to do this life changing expedition. Any amount towards my expedition would be appreciated and will go a long way to help me reach my goal of helping the communities in Kenya. Anybody who is kind enough to donate towards this expedition will have their name printed onto my camps international t-shirt. Many thanks Kai

Is there any cost to the challenger or to the cause?
No, GoRaise is completely free to use for challengers and causes. The only cost is to the retailer
Why do the retailers make a donation?
When you visit a retailer or service through goraise.co.uk they offer a donation as a thank you for your custom. Our partner retailers like to help, but it's also a way of attracting customers, so they essentially put it down as a marketing cost.
Will we end up paying more for goods and services?
No, you are not charged anything extra. You buy directly from supplier websites accessed via GoRaise so you pay the same as anyone else. In fact – our users are able to take advantage of many exclusive offers and promotions so you will often find a better deal with suppliers through GoRaise. If you have a preferred supplier not currently listed on GoRaise.co.uk, please let us know and we will help them sign up.
Sounds too good to be true – is there a catch?
There’s no catch, and to confirm, it won't cost you a penny!! In fact, there’s £millions worth of retailer commission available every year to fund good causes across the UK. Amazingly, many causes are still unaware of this easy, free way to generate funds through everyday online shopping.
How much of the donation does GoRaise take?
We don’t take a penny of the amount displayed. For all retailers we show a donation rate (% or £), which represents the full amount you are raising for your cause. For clarity, GoRaise is a commercial organisation, and we receive an additional payment from the retailer above and beyond that shown on the site.
Which causes can we raise money for?
You can support any good cause, from small community groups, national charities or your own company foundations. Your favourite cause may already be registered. If it isn’t, it can be added very easily for free. GoRaise helps charities, sports clubs, company foundations, PTAs, community groups, churches, youth groups (Girl Guides, Scouts etc) and lots of other great causes.
